<li>हम डरते हैं कि हमें भुला दिया जाएगा, ठुकरा दिया जाएगा, समझा नहीं जाएगा।</li>
</ul>

<li>हम हमेशा “अगली चीज़” के बारे में सोच रहे होते हैं:</li>
</ul>

<li>अगर मुझे वो नौकरी नहीं मिली तो?</li>
</ul>

<li>अगर मैं कभी संतुष्ट महसूस न कर पाऊँ तो?</li>
</ul>

<li>अगर मैं वो इंसान न बन पाया, जो बनने का सपना देखा था?</li>
</ul>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>इस भविष्य-केन्द्रित सोच में, हमारा वर्तमान धीरे-धीरे हमसे फिसल जाता है।</li>
</ul>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>शांति महसूस करना — एक लग्ज़री</strong><br></h3>



<p>किसी से भी पूछिए कि वो क्या चाहते हैं, तो जवाब शायद ही दौलत या शोहरत होगा।<br></p>



<p>वो चाहते हैं — शांति। ऐसी खामोशी — जो भारी न लगे। ऐसा आराम — जिसमें अपराधबोध न हो। </p>



<p>हम सभी चाहते हैं:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>कोई ऐसा जो बिना “सुधारने” की कोशिश किए हमें सुने।</li>
</ul>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>एक ऐसा पल जहां हमसे तुलना न की जाए, हमें मापा न जाए।</li>
</ul>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>एक ऐसी जगह जहां हम बस हो सकें — अधूरे, असंवारें, असली।</li>
</ul>



<p><em><mark style="background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#0d589a" class="has-inline-color">लेकिन ज़्यादातर दिनों में, हम बस स्क्रॉल करते हैं, मुस्कुराते हैं, और ज़िंदा रहते हैं।</mark></em></p>

<li>क्योंकि ये बाहरी चीज़ों की बात नहीं है।</li>



<li>ये उस चुप, उलझे हुए तूफान की बात है जो अंदर चल रहा है। और सबसे डरावनी बात?</li>



<li>आपने इसे इतनी अच्छी तरह से छुपाना सीख लिया है, कि कभी-कभी आपको भी इसका एहसास नहीं होता।</li>

<p>Low-income countries often face significant hurdles in vaccine procurement and distribution. India, in particular, has a dual role: protecting its own population while serving as a global vaccine supplier. India is a global leader in vaccine production, home to major manufacturers like the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech. The country also runs one of the world&#8217;s largest immunization programs, Mission Indradhanush, which covers millions of children and pregnant women. However, funding constraints may hinder its expansion. Although India’s National Health Policy 2017 aims to increase public health spending to 2.5% of GDP by 2025, the 2024-25 budget allocated only about 2.1% of GDP to health, which is lower than many other countries.</p>



<p>India’s role as a global vaccine hub is undeniable, but the pace of new vaccine development is slow due to limited research and development (R&amp;D) funding. Challenges such as funding shortages, vaccine hesitancy, and logistical issues could impede disease control efforts. Reduced global funding affects India’s ability to procure vaccines for diseases like polio and measles, especially in remote regions. Developing a new vaccine is a costly endeavor, ranging from 100 million to 500 million per vaccine, and India’s current funding for vaccine R&amp;D is insufficient. This lack of funding translates to fewer vaccine outreach programs and delays in the rollout of new vaccines, such as those for HPV (to prevent cervical cancer), dengue, and tuberculosis (TB).</p>

<p>The Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) has also faced funding reductions, impacting India’s polio surveillance efforts. Additionally, India is grappling with rising cases of dengue and malaria, exacerbated by climate change. While Dengvaxia, a dengue vaccine, exists, its use is limited. Emerging threats, such as the mpox (monkeypox) outbreak, further underscore the need for robust vaccination campaigns. Although India has reported low mpox cases, ongoing surveillance is critical given the global spread of the disease.</p>



<p>The high cost of vaccines often results in lower coverage among low-income populations, increasing the risk of outbreaks for diseases such as measles, rubella, and diphtheria. This raises a critical question: Can India sustain its global vaccine supply amidst funding cuts and geopolitical challenges?</p>



<p>To address these challenges, several strategies can be considered. Private companies like the Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech may require government subsidies to scale up vaccine production. Long-term funding agreements with organizations such as WHO, Gavi, and UNICEF could ensure vaccine affordability. Additionally, tapping into corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding from Indian pharmaceutical giants could provide a sustainable financial model. For example, Gavi’s partnership with African nations to ensure polio vaccine affordability could serve as a blueprint for India’s efforts to combat measles and HPV.</p>



<p>Improving cold chain logistics is another critical area. India’s &#8220;eVIN&#8221; (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network) has already enhanced vaccine tracking and cold storage in rural areas, but further investments are needed. Introducing new vaccines into national programs, such as government-funded HPV and dengue vaccines, could help eliminate these diseases.</p>



<p>While India faces significant challenges in sustaining its vaccination programs, strategic investments, international collaborations, and innovative funding mechanisms can help mitigate the impact of global aid cuts. By addressing these issues, India can continue to protect its population and maintain its vital role as a global vaccine supplier.</p>

<p>This article will explore the importance of mental health support for vulnerable communities and why it is so essential.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Access Mental Health Support: The Common Barriers</h2>



<p>What are some of the barriers to accessing mental health?</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Not everyone has the finances to afford therapy. </li>



<li>People who live in rural areas may have limited access to psychologists or psychiatrists (and any local professionals might not have availability for a long period of time)</li>



<li>There may be cultural barriers; for example, English may not be someone’s first language</li>



<li>Mental health itself can be a barrier as sometimes people feel like it’s not worth, or they are not able to, pursue help, particularly when other factors make it especially difficult for them</li>



<li>Lack of awareness; a lack of education in particular population groups can mean that people don’t have the knowledge to properly seek help</li>



<li>Cultural beliefs; some cultures may not acknowledge or discuss mental health problems</li>



<li>Stigma and embarrassment, such as fear of identifying with a mental illness</li>
</ul>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Impact of Systemic Inequalities on Mental Health</h2>



<p>According to this article published through the National Library of Medicine, there are many key issues in global mental health.</p>



<p>To the World Health Organization, health inequalities can be defined as ‘differences in health status or in the distribution of health determinants between different population groups’. Inequity in mental health does exist in access to care, use, and outcomes of care (such as mortality rates) and can occur by geographical region, gender, socioeconomic status, racial or ethnic background, and sexual orientation.</p>



<p>The consequences of these mental health inequalities include the unnecessary suffering and premature deaths, increased stigma and marginalization, lack of investment in mental health infrastructure, and limited (or complete lack of) treatment for people struggling with these conditions.</p>



<p>Factors that can improve a community&#8217;s mental health are social connection and support, as community bonds impact mental health.&nbsp;</p>



<p>People could attend city council meetings to make their voices heard (bringing issues they care about to light), support local businesses, or join a local group, such as a book club. This builds a great foundation for positive mental health.</p>

<p>So, how does mental health support enhance quality of life? Good mental health means:</p>

<li>People can handle stress a lot better</li>



<li>It helps in making decisions</li>



<li>People can build positive relationships with others</li>



<li>It increases self-esteem and self of self-worth</li>



<li>People can feel more motivated to do the things they enjoy</li>



<li>It helps people pursue their goals in life (educational, personal or professional)</li>



<li>People can think a lot clearer</li>



<li>People can make healthier choices (such as eating better or exercising)</li>



<li>It helps people shape the world they inhabit</li>



<li>People can relate to others on a deeper level</li>
</ul>



<p>For example, 70% of people with depression experience sleep disturbances. Having stable mental health helps people sleep better and be more productive the next day.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Why should public initiatives target mental health in vulnerable communities? There is evidence that community interventions to promote mental health and social equity (from individuals to families) can be effective.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Examples of this in practice include health worker interventions, parenting intervention to reduce child abuse, a school-run cognitive behavioural therapy prevention program, and multi-sector collaborative care. These partnerships with communities and policy leaders will improve mental health and achieve a larger-scale of positive outcomes.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Mental Health Support: It Matters for Everyone</h2>



<p>All in all, being able to take the right steps to enhancing mental health allows people of all backgrounds to experience a better quality of life.&nbsp;</p>



<p>From anxiety and depression treatments to behavioural therapies, equal access to mental health support helps everyone to be the best version of themselves.</p>

Over the last many years, food and lifestyle has disrupted thyroid health. Studies show that in India about 42 million people suffer from thyroid diseases, the five most common ones being hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, goitre, iodine deficiency disorders, Hashimoto’s disease and thyroid cancer.</p>

<p>Hypothyroidism (decreased thyroid activity) and hyperthyroidism (increased thyroid activity) are the two most common types of thyroid disorders. The small, butterfly-shaped thyroid gland plays a key role in a person’s well-being. A dip in energy levels and weight gain/loss  are some of the most prominent signs of a thyroid disorder.This is because a thyroid dysfunction leads to fluctuating TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels, which affects energy levels and causes poor brain function. Those suffering from thyroid disorders are also prone to mood swings. This is owing to the presence of low serotonin levels.<br></p>



<p>The synthetic pill keeps TSH and TFT (Thyroid Function Test) levels in check but oftentimes the associated symptoms, as listed below, remain the same:<br></p>



<p>1) Sudden weight gain/loss<br>2) Brain fog<br>3) Excessive sleep<br>4) Fatigue<br>5) Constipation or diarrhoea &#8211; erratic bowel movement is an everyday occurrence<br>6) Water retention in body or puffy face<br>7) Speech jam or not being able to recollect the exact word despite knowing it<br>8) Dysregulated gut health &#8211; extreme lack or increase of appetite, called vishamagni in Ayurveda<br></p>



<p>The disruption occurs at the emotional and cognitive level, common symptoms of the former being depression, anxiety, palpitation, negativity and overthinking.   Under the latter, vascular dementia or short term memory loss, losing track of one’s thoughts are all related to these two thyroid disorders.<br></p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Ayurvedic Management of Thyroid Disorders<br></h3>



<p>As with all treatments in Ayurveda, here too, a doctor or vaidya begins from gut health reinstatement. TSH or TFT values are corrected as a result of overall improvement in health.<br></p>

<p>By working on gut health or agni, the digestive fire, brain functioning (gut-brain axis correction), metabolism (weight gain or weight loss) and body weight is stabilised, clarity of senses is attained and bowel movement becomes normal.</p>



<p>Compromised cognitive ability leading to speech jam and brain fog also shows a gut-brain malfunction which can be treated with Ayurveda. When appetite is erratic, correction of the <em>agni</em> or digestive fire indicative of gut health resolves the problem. Weight gain is experienced in about 70% of the population with hypothyroidism while the rest have weight loss. A hampered metabolism rate can lead to gaining or losing weight despite being on the hormone pill if the thyroid is not functioning optimally.<br></p>



<p>In Ayurveda, treatment is prescribed depending on the individual’s constitution or prakriti, known as Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The treatment protocol is designed to observe if the disorder can be reversed or managed. Reversal, in three-steps, begins with anti-inflammatory management, gut &amp; thyroid reboot and restorative treatment (rasayana).<br></p>



<p>We also receive patients who opt for disease management so that it is not as extensive and they can continue having the pill. In such cases, herbs such as ashwagandha, gokshura, haritaki etc., are prescribed to be taken in specific formats. Correcting the gut-brain axis leads to improved gut health apart from the intake of appropriate medicines.<br></p>



<p>I conclude with two significant messages: one is that thyroid disorders are not to be neglected, and the second is that there is hope in Ayurveda!</p>

<p>Sparkles and magic all around us &#8211; it is the holiday season ! Everyone looks forward to this time of the year, as it means getting to spend time with their loved ones and relax.We also tend to reminisce over the past year and start planning goals for the upcoming year. However, it can also become quite chaotic due to the demands and expectations from friends and family. Moreover, reflecting on the past year and creating goals can make the holidays stressful and overwhelming which can affect our well-being.</p>



<p>So, how can we make sure our own well-being stays on track during all the holiday fun? Here are some tips:</p>

<p>The holiday season marks the end of a long year of hard work. And so, we should give ourselves a pat on the back for all the work that we put in throughout the year and look at this celebration as one for our successes. <p>The spirit of Christmas and New Years’ parties always take out the limited holiday time we have. Instead of entering the new year exhausted, let us try to find small ways to relax throughout the day by taking a few minutes of quiet time with a cup of tea, or by taking a short walk outside. We should prioritize quality time with friends and family, and make some sweet memories, as the year progresses towards an end. 	<p>The interjection on common grounds for water system management and circular economy initiatives gives a vast alignment for opportunities in the field of sustainable environment.</p>
<p>The concept of circular economy is outlined on six factors i.e Reduction, Reclamation, Reuse, Recycling, Recovery, Rethink.</p>
<p>The reduction of the generation of wastewater is a major step taken towards sustainability as the less the wastewater generation the lesser will be the treatment approach cost.</p>
<p>Reclamation is the approach taken to reclaim the already generated wastewater by effective treatment methods.</p>
<p>Reuse is the step where the non-potable water is used as an alternative for the freshwater in industry.</p>
<p>Recycling is a vital step where water after treatment has been transformed into potable and it replenish the scarcity of water to some extent.</p>
<p>Recovery is the major approach undertaken to segregate nutrients and energy generation from the sludge after water treatment. The literature review has shown the amount of energy generated from such waste is so much that it can run the machinery in industry without use of external energy supply. It depicts a sustainable approach towards conservation of energy.</p>
<p>The last approach is a thought-provoking one as we need to rethink a sustainable economy where generation of waste and emissions are minimal.</p>
<p>The concept of circular economy is the decisive and vital step for the water and waste-water sector. With systematic thinking and environmental stewardship it becomes an important factor for environmental management and planning.</p>
<p>The management of water and wastewater is one of the biggest challenges for the implementation of circular economy as most of the industries depends on water and few have the access to clean water resources which further restricts the productive capacity and the profit generation. The wastewater generation leads towards environmental disruption is an integral part of water management as half of the global freshwater (2212 km3 per year) is released as wastewater in the form of industrial and agricultural effluent in the environment. Out of the whole, 44% of global freshwater (1716 km3 per year) is primarily consumed by agriculture through evaporation in irrigated cropland.</p>
<p>Ellen MacArthur Foundation gave the Circular Economy Systems Diagram where the focus doesn’t reflect the water systems, e.g. manufacture/remanufacture, landfill, etc. so an alternative approach of Circular Economy Systems Diagram specific to Water System is explicated explained in the following diagram:</p>

	<p><strong>Healthcare Transformation</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Healthcare delivery has been a reactionary based delivery system. Largely seen as a product-based concept, healthcare delivery has been focused on the prescription of a drug by a doctor and subsequent treatment paradigm for the patient. The best experience in the yesteryears would mean immediate access to a doctor and a nearby medicine store for the availability of the drug. For critical cases, hospitals and nursing homes were the places for treatment without many probes into details of care quality. Delivery of care is like a maze where patient’s access to care depends on the timely availability, affordability, and effectiveness of medical care.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Much has changed in the past decade with the advancement of digital technology in healthcare space and rising consumerism of services. With rapid digital transformation, the importance of a service-based marketing approach to healthcare systems could not be further emphasized. Healthcare delivery through caregivers, providers are now aimed at finer details of customer satisfaction. While customer satisfaction in healthcare continues to be measured by the clinical outcomes, digital health makes a strong case for innovation by service providers with a renewed focus on patient engagements.</p>
<p><strong>Service Marketing in Healthcare</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">A contemporary approach known as Service Dominant logic states that the demarcation of products and services is artificial and more relevant than ever. Value creation in this context means creating value for the customer by the firm, which in turn enhances a firm’s value. For example, in case of a patient admitted in the hospital for a cardiac arrest, clinical outcomes would remain essential success factor, however, ease of care, shortened administrative formalities, responsive grievance redressal, and simplified payment mechanisms are just a few of the additional services that can contribute to a satisfied customer.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Services management has been practiced for long in industries such as hospitality, tourism, but lately evolved to almost all types such as in financial services, telecommunication, and professional services among others. The democratization of healthcare, internet explosion, and the onset of the digitally active consumers are major contributors to deepen the service aspect in the healthcare delivery value chain. Popularly known as service marketing mix, it comprises of 7Ps, product, pricing, place, promotion, people, process and physical evidence. The healthcare delivery system today offers opportunities at every step to enhance the services offered.</p>
<p><strong>Digital Health and Service Marketing</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Advancement of digital interfaces in value delivery starting from information search to post-treatment experience has revolutionized the healthcare system. A comparative study by PwC showed that while it took 75 years for the telephone to reach 50 million users, a gaming app such as Angry Bird did so in mere 35 days. This rapid appetite for consumers to embrace digital technologies is changing the mindset of companies who want to integrate digital offerings to enable new value drivers. The change in the digital landscape in health has also transformed the business models as companies, providers, and caregivers strive to improve the connectivity to the consumer through social media, mobile platforms, etc. This ensures the opportunity to explore healthcare services such as screening, diagnosis, and care to be more commonplace through digital mediums than it is currently. With the emergence of digital technologies that engulf the healthcare services, a connected care paradigm for patients is the next step in healthcare innovation practices.</p>

	<p><strong>Healthcare Delivery and Innovation in Services</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Traditional Patient Journey starts with a symptom identification leading the patient to a nearby physician. Lab tests are done at the recommendation of the physician post which the treatment phase begins. If the disease recedes, the loop is closed with the patient returning only if there are further symptoms. In the case of complexities, the patient is referred to as specialists’ treatment. Digitally enabled patient journey is where multiple stakeholders get added as touch-points to the patient. It is here the digital players such as apps for online consultation, online medicine purchase, lab tests, online appointment booking, etc. come into the picture. Digitally enabled patient journey creates immense opportunities for service marketers in terms of consumer outreach. Service excellence for the providers, caregivers, points of delivery and innovative players would evolve even further with the adoption of digital technologies. Providers/ Caregivers &#8211; Hospitals such as multi-specialty, super-specialty, and other providers both public and private have seen many barriers for the patients starting from the point of entry till the billing stage. Beginning from administrative procedures, waiting times, medicine procurement, etc. there exist many points where value creation for the customer by the firm could be improved in the current context of digital health.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">One of the classic examples is Mayo Clinic. Counted as one of the best hospitals in the world, Mayo Clinic has an extreme focus on patient needs through high levels of data integration in terms of patients’ medical records, and seamless information flow among various points of delivery. For instance, a patient with cystic breast disease suspected a lump. She turned up at the breast clinic in Mayo to the specialists who took her medical history and performed an exam, which was immediately followed by a mammogram in the nearby breast imaging center. The breast ultrasound followed next and the results confirmed the lump was a cyst and not cancer. The radiologist communicated the findings to the specialist and recorded it in the patient EMR. The patient returned to the specialist who discussed the findings with her, wrapped up the visit and recommended follow-up care. This entire exercise which could have taken days, if not weeks, was completed in a few hours in Mayo Clinic.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This is one instance where digitization of healthcare is playing a significant role in improving customer services in the context of institutions that provide care. Other potential areas in digital connected care include faster payment systems (claim processing) where insurance provider pre-empts the patient whether the hospital is in-network before admission, reduced hospital days due to seamless information flow among nurses, physicians and other caregivers for quick turnaround, early screening and diagnosis for patients and so on. Enhanced patient experience contributes to service excellence and digital transformation could act as a significant enabler for providers and caregivers reducing barriers inpatient care.</p>

	<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Points of Delivery</strong> &#8211; In the healthcare value chain, points of delivery such as pharmacies, diagnostic centers also act as major areas where value creation for a customer is imperative. Traditionally the pharmacy has been a place for product promotions by the pharmaceutical firms. However, with the expansion of chain pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens, Apollo, and the use of digital systems, the effect has gradually become more towards patient engagement and convenience-driven access to care.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">From discount coupons on drugs to provide additional services such as immunization and vaccination, digital transformation is aiding the pharmacies to spend more time with patients. Along with improving operational efficiency to quickly fill prescriptions, pharmacies focus on patient support programs such as health screening, improving patient adherence using customized programs for patients where patients could register using apps, get regular updates regarding prescription filling, vaccination reminders, and other such services. As the role of the pharmacies evolves more from a product-based approach to a more service-oriented one, digital enablers would assist in marketing approaches to improve customer experience.</p>

	<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Innovative Digital Solutions</strong> &#8211; Digital transformation in patient buying behavior has chartered a new territory for innovative digital solution providers in healthcare. This ranges from the beginning of the patient entry to the identification of symptoms to the end of a patient journey which is post-treatment experience. Customized apps for information or symptom search, smart medical devices that track physical activity, remote monitoring solutions, and telehealth are just a few players in the fast-increasing segment of healthcare that adds to the consumerism of services. From a service marketing perspective, these digital devices serve as means for the firms to acquire customers, retain them and add more services to the solutions which would result in a one-stop-shop for the patient in its journey. As patient centricity becomes further positioned, the next steps could be connected solutions through which the consumer could make an appointment, order lab tests, purchase medicines on prescription, integrate its health insurance plan for payments, register in disease-specific adherence program and get updated about the next prescription fill and nearby available pharmacies.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">In a nutshell, a key aspect of service marketing is the people-orientation and with the onset of digital health platforms, value creation is focused on patient engagement strategies and personalized care. The healthcare industry is poised to expand its reach from just treating the patient with a drug to the more wholesome patient experience. Thus, an evolving digital landscape creates immense opportunities for existing and novel players to enhance patient centricity and service excellence in healthcare delivery.</p>
