PMDD affects about 5- 8 of women worldwide and is a severe type of premenstrual pattern that causes both cerebral and physical symptoms. utmost menstruating women witness some symptoms of premenstrual pattern( PMS), similar as mood swings and headaches, despair, wrathfulness, pressure and solicitude.

When it comes to menstruation, there is still a lot of stigma attached to it. In certain cultures, menstruation is considered filthy and disgusting. This creates a hush-hush atmosphere surrounding it, which should not be the case. It is a physiological function, just like any other, that is essential for reproduction. A stigmatised air around menstruation inhibits adolescent menstruators from receiving genuine, solid knowledge about what is going on with them. It is either forbidden, sacred, or invalidated. Where is the true picture?

Let’s go all the way back to ancient civilizations for the first known mentions of menstruation. Pliny the Elder, a Roman philosopher, was persuaded that periods were some kind of mystical trickery back in the day. He said that women on their periods could destroy large fields of crops, drive bees from their hives, and manipulate the weather. Regrettably, attitudes concerning menstruation were not much better during the Middle Ages. People went to tremendous lengths to conceal their periods due to religious embarrassment, and some even claimed cramps were a heavenly punishment for Eve’s initial sin. Those who were menstruating were not administered pain relief medication because cramps were viewed as a punishment (mostly herbal remedies at the time).

People in mediaeval times would either use rags to absorb their menstrual blood (ever wonder where the phrase “on the rag” comes from?) or they would free bleed. Periods entered the Bridgerton era in the late nineteenth century, and the first menstrual products were invented. People wore sanitary belts from the 1890s until the early 1980s, which were simply reusable pads tied to a belt worn around the waist – and yes, they were as terrible as they sound. Brands began to release adhesive disposable pads in the 1970s, comparable to what we see now in the menstruation goods aisle. Initially, adhesive pads were heavy and uncomfortable to wear, but they were an improvement over having to suspend your pad from a string.

Biologically, the menstrual cycle is characterized by regular and recreating hormonal changes, including changes in the ovarian hormones estrogen and progesterone. The cycle is divided into two distinct phases the follicular phase, which lasts from period to ovulation and varies in length, but generally lasts 14 days; and the luteal phase, which is the alternate half of the cycle after ovulation and leading up to period and lasts constantly for 14 days. The days before the period are generally termed as the premenstrual phase. During period, estrogen and progesterone situations are fairly low.

As the cycle progresses through the follicular phase, estrogen situations rise, egging the pituitary gland to produce a swell of follicle- stimulating hormone and luteinizing hormone which helps eggs develop in the ovaries. Once the most advanced egg is discharged, the follicle transforms into a corpus luteum that generates steadily adding situations of progesterone as well as a small quantum of estrogen. However, progesterone and estrogen situations drop, the filling of the uterus breaks down, If the egg isn’t fertilized. further than half of menstruating women report some pain during their period, with some estimates as high as 84.

Another study set up that 32- 40 of people who have their period report that the pain is so bad that they’ve to leave work or academy. still, it’s not just the physical signs of period that can beget discomfort and anxiety. Hormonal oscillations during periods can have a direct effect on your mood, with some people suffering from premenstrual dysphoric complaints (PMDD).

The symptoms of PMDD, which are intricately linked to your current internal health, are analogous to those of major depression. This means that women suffering from PMDD face the same troubles as women suffering from major depression, similar to an increased threat of self-murder during the two weeks they’re affected. The inverse effect is also true. Mental health problems in general can beget or worsen menstrual problems. According to exploration, women who have an anxiety or substance use complaint had shorter ages.

Creativity helps us process our feelings more by furnishing an outlet for all our sentiments, whether positive or negative. hear to music- It’s true that music has been proven to promote internal well- being, reduce stress, and reduce the product of cortisol( the stress hormone) in our brain.

According to one study, there’s a” significant relationship between stress and the circumstance of dysmenorrhea,” or uncomfortable period that generally manifests as cramps. It set up that those who were under a lot of stress were doubly as likely to get dysmenorrhea also, studies have set up a correlation between those who work in stressful surroundings having shorter menstrual ages. A normal cycle lasts around 28 days, and anything lower than 24 days is considered short.

Here are some suggestions for taking care of your mental health throughout your cycle :

Try Exercise – Research shows that regular aerobic exercise can help reduce and improve PMS symptoms such as sadness and exhaustion.” It’s natural to be afraid to exercise this time of the month. Exercise, on the other hand, causes the release of a chemical known as endorphins. They interact with pain receptors in the brain, they reduce the perception of pain and induce good emotions in the body. As a result, moderate exercise can help ease the cramps and discomfort associated with PMS. Serotonin and dopamine are two chemicals released during exercise that not only improve your mood, but can also suppress anxiety-inducing hormones. One study found that three sessions of 60-minute exercise each week for eight weeks significantly reduced PMS symptoms in women. Exercise can even help manage bloating and water retention. “Remember to do what feels comfortable, and don’t overdo it.”

Stress Management Practices – As a result, stress management practices should be used throughout the menstrual cycle. PMS can be stressful enough on its own, especially when the symptoms disrupt your daily routine, such as cramps that make it difficult to get out of bed or mood swings that disrupt relationships. When you are stressed, your body produces increased amounts of cortisol and corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH). They are also referred to as stress hormones. When stress has a particularly strong effect on your hormones, it can result in missed or late periods. Stress is a major cause of uncomfortable menstrual symptoms because it disrupts your hormones and can disrupt your cycle.

Get enough sleep – when you are stressed, sleep can help you cope. Sleep improves your mental health and helps treat anxiety and sadness. During your period, try to get six to eight hours of sleep each night. If you can’t do this consistently, aim for at least six hours of sleep each night. You can also try taking naps during the day if that works better for your schedule than going to bed early at night. It also improves your mood and minimizes the harmful effects of PMS (premenstrual syndrome) hormones.

Healthy Diet – A nutritious diet has been shown to increase mental well-being. In fact, one study found that following a Mediterranean diet was associated with lower rates of sadness and anxiety. In fact, studies have shown that eating a nutritious diet can help reduce symptoms of depression by up to 50%. For starters, consider increasing your intake of omega-3 fatty acids, found in fish like salmon and trout, as well as flaxseed oil. They help fight inflammation in the body, which can contribute to physical and mental health problems like depression. Omega-3 fatty acids also increase serotonin levels, which improves mood! Increasing your intake of vitamins B6 and B12 will also help improve your mental well-being. These vitamins are needed for the production of neurotransmitters such as norepinephrine, which affects how quickly signals are transmitted between brain cells, or neurons. In other words, they help keep everything in order.

Do yoga – According to healthcare experts, rehearsing yoga during your period can help ameliorate your emotional state and overall health. Yoga can help you fight internal problems and sleep better. Yoga is a great approach to reducing stress, which can be particularly dangerous for those suffering from hormonal problems similar to PMS or menopause. Yoga can also help you feel more and help acne flare- ups during your period. Yoga is also an excellent tool for managing stress and other negative feelings, as well as perfecting your station and outlook on life. rehearsing yoga allows you to concentrate on the present moment rather than getting caught up in unwelcome studies or passions.

Get creative- Being creative during your menstrual cycle can help you ameliorate your internal health. The stylish thing about being creative is that it does not have to be a commodity big or fancy and you can do it whenever and wherever you want. Indeed if you are not feeling well, you can buck up your days by creating a picture or composing a lyric. There are several ways creativity can profit your internal health.

Creativity helps us process our feelings more by furnishing an outlet for all our sentiments, whether positive or negative. hear to music- It’s true that music has been proven to promote internal well- being, reduce stress, and reduce the product of cortisol( the stress hormone) in our brain. That is because music is a form of tone- expression that helps us connect with others in ways that words alone do not always allow. Health professionals have actually recommended that people suffering from depression listen to music during their menstrual cycle because it helps them feel more emotionally.

Quit smoking and limit alcohol input – Tobacco use is dangerous to health. It has a significant effect on internal and physical health. Women are affected more than men by smoking during this period. Women are more prone to pinging a cigarette due to hormonal changes in the body during this period. Cigarette bank disrupts a woman’s menstrual cycle, performing in irregular ages, heavy bleeding and an increased threat of gravidity. Drinking alcohol during your period isn’t a good idea. It can beget a number of unwanted side goods, including headaches, nausea and vomiting, dizziness, prostration and stomach derangement. In addition to these physical goods, drinking alcohol during your period affects your internal health.

Menstruating women can suffer from a range of unwelcome symptoms during their’ period’, from minor discomfort, lower aft pain, prostration and bloating to severe pain, heavy inflow and cramping. They can occasionally intrude with an existent’s diurnal conditioning. Some people may not be suitable to go to work or academy because of discomfort that prevents them from performing typically. The effect of period on internal health highlights the significance of hormones in the brain- body connection and how they affect moods and therefore studies.

Knowing the patterns of these changes in our brain and body can help one understand their problem and learn about our studies, inspiring us to take care of ourselves in new and salutary ways. Realizing the significance of women’s internal health is the first step to perfecting internal health during ages. Second, we need to address this issue by encouraging women and girls to talk about and learn about their bodies.

Last but not least, we should raise awareness of women’s internal health with the support of family members, preceptors and musketeers, among others. These conduct should help ameliorate our internal health during the period.

I welcome all my readers to this beautiful journey- A journey not merely from “FAT TO FIT” but towards “HEALTH, HOPE AND HAPPINESS”!!! Not so long ago, the word “fitness” was limited to only a particular group of people like celebrities, athletes, swimmers, dancers etc. But in today’s contemporary world, it is really astonishing to see that every common man talks about fitness and is determined to be fit. So what does fitness actually mean???

“Fitness” is a broad term. It means something different to each person. It is infact a very personal term. In general, fitness is the ability to live a full and balanced life. It breeds self-reliance and keeps man mentally alert. Physical fitness is also essential for human beings to adjust well with their environment as their mind and body are in complete harmony.

In 1967, H.Harrison Clarke, who has significantly contributed in the field of physical education and is the author of multiple books on physical education defined fitness as “ The ability to carry out daily tasks (work and play) with vigour and alertness without undue fatigue and with ample energy to enjoy leisure time pursuits and to meet unforeseen emergencies”.

But in today’s fast-paced world where everything is INSTANT-from instant food (whether healthy or not), instant news (fake or otherwise), instant google answers (many a times creating confusion) to instant money transfer (though filled with security issues), everyone has forgotten that the beauty of life lies in focusing on “Being in the Present”.

According to my observations, there are two groups of population. One group of the population, especially the youngsters, expect instant fitness failing to understand the fact that it could turn out to be dangerous. They forget the fact that “PATIENCE IS THE KEY”. The saddest part is that with the beginning of new year and with a list of resolutions in mind, the overzealous, instant gratification selves of this group of people emerge and they do too much exercise in order to make up for the lost time. They can be called the “FITNESS FREAKS” and they develop an unhealthy obsession with staying healthy.

“It’s going to be a journey, it’s not a sprint to get in shape” -Kerri Walsh Jennings

The other group of population are those who do not want to start any type of physical exercise, at any point of time and they just keep postponing. They are known as the “SEDENTARY” population and are defined as those expanding less than 10% of their daily energy in the performance of moderate to high intensity activities. This attitude is harmful for the generation. In today’s rush, they fail to realize that health is a precious asset until it has been depleted. The start is what stops most people especially in matters related to fitness.

Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can. -Arthur Asle

Now, I leave it to the readers to decide about which group of population they belong to. There is also one last group of population about which I have not mentioned. These are the people who have already started with the fitness activities but are still left with lot’s of confusion in their minds and infact are strong believers of some common ‘myths’ as ‘facts’ associated with fitness. The purpose of my article is basically to throw some light over these myths, misconceptions and misbeliefs and to highlight some DO’S AND DON’TS about fitness in a simple, comprehensible and lucid way.

Irrespective of the type of person you are, here goes the list of some DO’S AND DON’TS about fitness for all.

DO’S

1. Always get a physical examination and consult experts: Everybody is different and every person reacts to muscle strain in a different way. So kindly consult your physician for a general health check up before you engage yourself in any kind of new exercise or fitness workouts. Never hesitate to take advice from experts (physical therapist or personal trainer). Make sure you do the exercise safely and effectively.

2. Be determined and set your goal: The best investment you can ever make is in your health. When you feel like quitting, always think about the reason for your initiation.

3. Do it for yourself: Fitness is not about being better than someone else, it is all about being better than you used to be. Being the best version of oneself.

4. Set aside time for exercise: Put all your excuses aside and make time for exercise. One hour of workout is just 4% of your whole day. Cut the time you use for browsing through WhatsApp and social media pages or the time you use for playing some online games to make time for exercise.

5. Make it a habit: Research shows that frequent, early repetitions of certain behaviours, such as exercise, make it more likely to become something you do automatically. Once you see the results, it becomes an addiction. Fitness is more about mental than a physical challenge.

6. Take rest at regular intervals: According to the performance and well-being coach George Anderson- “For most of the people especially beginners, periods of recovery between sets or intervals allows for higher intensity, better quality movement, lower risk of injury and a greater training stimulus that is likely to lead to superior results”. Remember that “Soreness is never a sign of good workout”. Less rest never means that you are working hard. Pain always signals that something is not working properly. Overexertion signs are fatigue, muscle soreness, dehydration, exhaustion.Overexertion can cause injuries like muscle sprains, strains and tears, tendinitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Joint dislocations, herniated discs, stress fractures etc.

7. Always keep yourself hydrated: There is always the risk of dehydration especially while working out in hot, humid weather and during rigorous prolonged workouts due to excessive sweating. Severe dehydration could be dangerous as it can create electrolyte imbalances and strain the muscles.

8. Record your improvements: Always keep a track of your improvements whether physical or mental as they give a sense of pride in your accomplishments and motivate you to continue in your path towards fitness without any hindrance.

DON’TS

1. Do not get obsessed with fitness: There lies a darker reality behind the fitness fanatics. According to a recent report by Glasgow-based general practitioner Dr. Des Spence, all health-tracking devices were contributing to an ‘unhealthy health-obsessed generation’ (also published in British Medical Jour

2. Never start off too hard: It is always better to take small steps. A journey of a thousand miles always begins with a single step. Don’t be overwhelmed and do not binge on exercise. Slow down and start again after you feel refreshed and rejuvenated. Moderate exercise has shown to improve the immune system while excessive exercise could suppress it. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), increased workouts don’t assure health benefits. Experts say that extreme exercises may also lead to heart damage and heart rhythm disorders. One study found that repeated extreme exercises can remodel the heart, thickening the heart walls and scarring tissue. You don’t have to be extreme, just be consistent

3. Don’t just focus on weight loss: It’s quite common for the beginners to check their weight on the weighing scale after every workout and keep a track of even a gram increase or decrease in weight. Don’t make weight loss your sole marker of success. You will lose weight slowly. Target on fat loss rather than on weight loss because as you become fitter, you will gain muscle and become more toned –muscle weighs more than fat. So the process is definitely a slow one.

Children today are not only having to deal with peer pressure, and body image issues; but also, the pressure of scoring very high grades to get through a good college in their chosen fields. With mind-boggling competition, everyone wants their children to be exceptional achievers. It is no surprise that the foremost concern of most parents is pertaining to the academic performance of their children.

Nutrition And Cognitive Health

A child belonging to the lower socioeconomic status, not only has to struggle with a lack of educational opportunities but also a lack of healthy nutrition. This child will most likely go through their formative years having a poor diet which lacks most essential nutrients. This may lead to a lower academic performance throughout the school years, which in turn may lead to fewer job opportunities resulting in lower socioeconomic status. When the same child grows up and starts own family, the cycle continues to the next generation. On the other side of the socio-economic spectrum, a child belonging to an affluent urban family also deals with poor nutrition but in a very different way. More than one-third of such children and adolescents, aged 6yrs to 19yrs, are considered overweight or obese. This is because these children are overfed but remain undernourished. Studies show that more than 90% of children in urban areas, belonging to affluent families, consume more than the recommended amounts of saturated fats and added sugars. The consumption of fruits and vegetables in these children is also observed to be less than the recommended intake. Thus, even though they may appear to be well nourished, they have many underlying nutritional deficiencies. Some of these deficiencies impact the performance of these children in academics and extracurricular activities.

Relationship Between Breakfast And Academic Performance

There have been many studies that have looked at the relationship between breakfast consumption and academic performance in children, and most have concluded that eating breakfast improves cognitive functions like memory recall. A study was done in Norway which looked at 475 high school children, found that those who ate breakfast regularly had fewer difficulties in learning, especially mathematics, besides improved reading and writing. Another study carried out in China on kindergarten students found that kids who ate breakfast had higher IQs (intelligent quotients). This was independent of the education level of the parents, or the family’s socioeconomic status. Many similar studies carried out over the years have reported that skipping breakfast was associated with decreased cognitive performance (e.g., alertness, attention, memory, processing of complex visual display, problem-solving, etc.) among the students. Children who do not eat an adequate breakfast can also suffer from hunger pangs while in school, headaches, and stomach pains due to excessive acid, etc. This, besides being a source of distraction for children, can also lead to absence from classes, which in turn can affect academic performance in school.

Relationship Between Specific Foods And Academic Performance

Interestingly, studies have not just found a positive association with breakfast consumption but also between the quality of meals and academic performance. A study carried out in Scotland investigated the consumption of sugary drinks, sweets, chocolates, pizza, savory snacks and hot dogs with learning abilities. The study found that children who had a higher consumption of these foods had increased mathematical difficulties as compared to children who had a more nutritious dietary intake. Another study found that children who ate healthier foods with a low glycemic index had better attention span, word recall and reaction time than children who consumed food with a higher glycemic index that leads to high blood glucose levels soon after consumption Sub-optimal intake of foods, such as fruits, vegetables, and dairy products, has also been associated with lower grades among students.

Relationship Between Physical Activity And Academic Performance

Physical activity is another very important factor that affects academic performance. Today, many mothers with children as young as 10 years old, feel that enrolling their children in extracurricular activities will take time away from their studies and result in poorer academic results. On the contrary, studies have shown that students who are physically active, perform better in school, compared to children who are physically inactive. These kids not only have better grades but also better attendance and fewer absenteeism, better memory recall, concentration during lessons and lesser disciplinary problems. Physically inactive children who gradually increased their activity showed improved memory and cognitive function than when they were physically inactive.

Relationship Between Specific Nutrients And Academics Performance

There are specific micro-nutrients that have been associated with better academic performance.

Children with deficiencies of micronutrients like vitamin A, B6, B12, folic acid, iron, zinc, and calcium, have shown to score lower grades and result in higher absenteeism. Two nutrients, known to have the strongest relation to school performance, are iron and zinc. Iron is an integral part of hemoglobin which is the oxygen-carrying molecule in the blood. Deficiency of iron is called anemia. Symptoms of iron deficiency include fatigue or tiredness, lethargy, slowed growth and development, poor appetite, abnormally rapid breathing, behavioral problems or disciplinary issues and susceptibility to frequent infections. All these individually and collectively can lead to increased absenteeism and thereby decreased academic performance. Iron deficiency also directly affects the ability to undertake physical activity, which in turn can further affect performance in school. Zinc is mainly needed for the body’s immune system to work properly. In addition, it is involved in cell growth, wound healing and for the sense of taste and smell. Symptoms of zinc deficiency are depression and psychological disorders, impaired immunity, impaired growth, diarrhea, delayed sexual maturation, alopecia or abnormal hair growth, impaired appetite, altered cognitive functions and altered sense of smell and taste. Zinc deficiency also leads to poorer performance in school. This can be due to the fact that children with zinc deficiency are more prone to catching an infection and falling sick, thereby missing classes, their ability to memorize is affected, there are psychological disorders that can affect learning, etc. So, how can parents ensure that they give their children the best advantage for improving academic performance? Some of the suggestions are as follows:

Always have healthy snacks stocked in your pantries, so that kids eat the right foods throughout the day.

Don’t be fooled by “Low Fat” labels. Such products are usually loaded with sugar. Similarly, “natural” does not always mean whole grain or unrefined ingredients. Educate yourself about reading the labels and identifying what they mean.

Encourage your children to be physically active, it will not only help them improve their academic performance but also help in building their overall personality.

A good healthy balanced diet will ensure that your children do not suffer from any nutritional deficiencies.

The study involved 1,195 people who had an ischemic stroke or a stroke where blood flow to part of the brain is blocked. They were asked questions about their physical functioning, fatigue, anxiety, sleep problems, thinking skills such as planning and organizing, how much their pain affects other aspects of their life and their satisfaction with their current social roles and activities. Participants took the questionnaires an average of 100 days after their stroke, and about a quarter of the participants needed help from a family member to fill out the questionnaires. Researchers also measured their level of disability.

The people with stroke had scores that were considerably worse than those in the general population in every area except sleep and depression. Not surprisingly, the area where the people with stroke were most affected was physical functioning, where 63 percent had scores considered meaningfully worse than those of the general population, with an average score of 59, where a score of 50 is considered the population average.

“The social participation and executive functioning skills are areas that have not received a lot of attention in stroke rehabilitation,” Katzan said. “We need to better understand how these areas affect people’s well-being and determine strategies to help optimize their functioning.”

Limitations of the study include that the questionnaires did not ask about other problems that can occur after stroke, such as communication issues.

Also, the study participants had milder strokes on average than people with stroke overall and the average age of participants was 62, which is lower than the average age of 69 for people with stroke overall.

Informatively, American Academy of Neurology is the world’s largest association of neurologists and neuroscience professionals, with 34,000 members. AAN is dedicated to promoting the highest quality patient-centered neurologic care. A neurologist is a doctor with specialized training in diagnosing, treating and managing disorders of the brain and nervous system such as Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, migraine, multiple sclerosis, concussion, Parkinson’s disease, and epilepsy.

Ayurveda is generally understood as ‘Science of life’ translating ‘Ayuh (r)’as life and ‘Veda’ as science. Ayurveda is an ancient system of life and also the oldest surviving medical system in the world. Dating back almost 5000 years, it is also considered to be an ancient science of healing that enhances longevity. It has evolved from the quest to have a happy life, through a deep understanding of creation and its maintenance, perceived and conceived by the rishis or seers of ancient India. Ayurveda emphasizes upon life in general with bit more emphasis on human life.

Its influence can be found in many ancient traditional methods of healing including Tibetan, Greek, and Chinese medicines thus making it the ‘mother of healing’.

The fundamentals on which the Ayurvedic system is based are essentially true for all ages and so can be easily adopted time after time, century after century. The philosophy of Ayurveda teaches a series of conceptual systems characterized by balance and disorder, health and disease. It teaches that am person’s mental, emotional and spiritual being are all interconnected and any kind of imbalance between them results in health disorder and diseases. Therefore, to be healthy, harmony must exist between the purpose for healing, thoughts, feelings and physical action.

Health and disease are defined in a very special way in Ayurveda. Ayurveda’s central tenant is that life is a manifestation of mind, body, soul and spirit. Body and mind are prone to suffering while the spirit is free of any such trappings of life. Thus to remain healthy and happy, efforts are required to be made in the direction of maintaining harmony among all these elements and only then can one get closer to the goal of longevity and disease free life.

Ayurvedic science is not merely a traditional Indian form of medicine but a perennial naturopathic system of healthcare that has survived the test of time as well as onslaught of modern science and methods of treatments. Based on wisdom acquired through the centuries, the main aim of Ayurvedic science is to achieve perfect health by creating an equilibrium of perfect harmony between human body and the environment it habitats.

Ayurveda is also known as the science of living a healthy and disease free life. It is built on the premise that in olden days, man used to live close to nature and whenever he got exposed to some disease, he used to cure himself using resources and material provided by the Mother Nature. It therefore would not be wrong to say that Ayurveda charts out a health patter based on nature and its natural resources.

The Vedic philosophy believes that human beings are all a part of nature. Just as animals and plants are interdependent on each other to create balance within their beings, there is a concurrent and inherent connection between the universe and human beings. The complex world that the human beings reside in, is perpetually exposed to environmental changes. Any amount of change in weather, lifestyle, diet, work, emotions and relationships can easily tip the balance and negatively influence an individual’s state of mind, body and soul.

Ayurveda calls for a complete harmony of human body with the elements of nature and the surrounding environment for a stress free and healthy life. The Ayurvedic science does not merely deal with medical science but its scope goes much beyond the universe of the conventional science. It also includes factors like herbal medicine, body works, and surgery apart from social, psychological, ethical, spiritual and intellectual life of human beings.

According to Ayurveda, each one of us has a unique mix of three body principals that constitutes our mental, physical and spiritual well-being. These three principals are known as doshas, which are further classified as Vatta (air ether), Kapha (water-earth) and Pitta (water). But each individual has its own unique constitution that is usually governed by one or two of the doshas predominantly. It means that that our Ayurvedic constitution is mainly be either of these doshas or a mixed constitution of two doshas like Vatta & Kapa, Kapa & Pitta or Vatta & Pitta.

Ayurvedic Medicines are fast gaining popularity across the world. One of the major reasons for it being that Ayurveda seeks to normalize body functions with varied techniques including advice on food and activity, internal herbal preparations, purification treatments (panchakarma), and surgical methods (shalya chikitsa).

Ayurveda is based on the belief that the delicate balance of mind, body and spirit determines health and wellness of the body. The goal of Ayurveda is prevention as well as promotion of the body’s own capacity for maintenance and balance. Ayurvedic medicines are non-invasive and non-toxic in nature and therefore are free from any side effects.

Using Ayurvedic medicines in your daily life enables you to re-establish balance and harmony in body’s system, aids in detoxification and cleansing of the body by removing accumulated toxins and normalize body’s functions. Products made using Ayurvedic plants have a stronger action on the body as they help in stabilizing the doshas.

Tulsi, Guduchi, Ajwain, Brahmi, Shilajit and Ashwagandha etc., are some of the most commonly used herbs in Ayurvedic preparations. Each of these herbs or spices hold a multitude of benefits — for the mind, body, and spirit and can be easily used internally or externally, depending on the need.

The daily activities of life in the modern world systematically wear us down and speed up the aging process. Ayurveda maintains it is crucial to practice daily rejuvenative regimens to counteract the stressful wear and tear of everyday life. According to Ayurveda the most important rejuvenative routines for your life are:

Going to bed by 10:00 PM. This simple habit is one of the most powerful techniques for health and longevity, according to Going to bed by 10:00 PM. This simple habit is one of the most powerful techniques for health and longevity, according to Maharishi Ayurveda.

Meditate daily any meditation that does not involve concentration (which has been shown to increase anxiety) can be very helpful. I highly recommend the twice-daily deep rest and enlivenment of the Transcendental Meditation (TM) technique, whose benefits have been verified by over 700 published research studies.

Eat organic, whole fresh food that is freshly prepared. There is an Ayurvedic saying: “Without proper diet. Medicine is of no use. With proper diet, medicine is of no need.” Be sure to avoid those leftovers, processed and microwaved foods for better nutrition and vitality.

Sixty percent of all mothers today work, either part-time or full time outside their home. Moreover, statistics show that the No. 1 emotion working mothers struggle with is guilt – guilt because they are not home when the kids get home from school, guilt because their son does not like his sitter and guilt because they cannot be a room mother. “Working mothers suffer from two major ailments: guilt and role strain,” says Devika Singh, psychologist at International based in Dubai Herbal Treatment Center.

A universal mom problem

Guilt and parenting go hand in hand. Every mother experiences it, as she somehow believes if something is wrong with the children it must be her fault. In addition, because a working mother is not physically present with her kids 24 hours a day, she naturally blames herself even more when there is even the slightest of problems.

Working mothers face challenges all the time. Mixed with the responsibilities they have as concerning their children are the commitments of their careers. Devika adds, “Women who must work, may feel guilty that they do not spend sufficient time with their children and worry that their child-care arrangements are inadequate, but they find some comfort in the fact that their working will provide the best for their children.”

“Women who choose to work in order to develop their own potential and to prevent boredom or even depression, which may result if they feel forced to stay home, feel guilty that they are ‘abandoning’ their children. Professional women also feel guilty that they are not devoting themselves as thoroughly to their careers as they ought to in order to move forward. These women struggle with their anger at children who present extra, time-consuming demands.

Whatever the reasons why they work, few working mothers do not feel a constant undercurrent of guilt about the effects of their working on their children. The guilt is usually most intense for mothers of infants and preschool children,” she says.

“Role Strain’ is the somewhat euphemistic term for the chronic fatigue, anxiety, sense of always being behind, and near panic that working mothers so commonly feel from trying to manage their separate and often conflicting roles. Working mothers of small children who need them in the night may suffer as well from sleep deprivation, which leaves them less alert, less productive, and somewhat irritable on the job. Even those rare few who seem to manage both work and mothering without suffering stress may face periodic exhaustion, lack of private time, and neglect of exercise and appearance.”

“A crucial conflict in professional women today is between achievement and the fear of loss of love. They worry that men will be put off by their competence or their interest in their careers may present conflicts in their marriages. Most women do not realize that these conflicts may underlie their anxieties, disappointments, loss of meaning, lack of ambition, frustrations, or boredom in their working lives.”

“It is important for working women to recognize the internal obstacles that they bring to the situation. Then they will be freer to recognize and deal with external limitations that society continues to impose on women in the workplace. Most working mothers keep their guilt and role strain within tolerable limits, although some may need professional help to deal with the stress and self-criticism. Most try hard to focus on the quality of the time they spend with their children rather than its amount. Many try to compensate with special activities and material benefits they are able to shower their child with. They cope with role strain; most often by lowering their career ambitions or slowing down, at least until the children no longer need them as much, and by teaching their children earlier to be self-reliant and independent.”

Tip For Moms To Ease Their Mommy Guilt

A mother should recognize that her feelings are trying to tell her to change something and the change always requires at least a two-step process. First, you have to learn to let go of the things that are causing you problems. Sometimes it is just a matter of looking at a situation in a new light. Other times it is a matter of getting the training of handling your parenting job differently (like learning yell-free discipline techniques or meal-planning tricks). Second, you have to replace the old ways with new ones, which is not hard. Once you begin prioritizing the enjoyment of your parenting experience, you will want to create even more ways to do so. You will be modelling for your kids what it means to be a happy, balanced, well-adjusted parent, so your whole family will be better off.

You do not have to be there every second; most children will obey and act accordingly. Even if you are not around all the time, they instinctively know when they are loved.

Set your priorities and evaluate them often. Focus only on what is truly important, not what that stereotype in your head is saying.

Do not be slack on the rules for discipline and routine give them a sense of security no matter how much they rebel and complain about it. Your children want to know that you are there if they need you.

Working Moms Can Benefit Their Children, Too

They encourage independence and cultivates a sense of responsibility in children. Kids of working moms are with adults who are not their parents for at least part of the day. This separation, which makes moms feel guilty, can actually breed a kind of self-reliance that improves self-esteem. Children with working moms get used to starting homework on their own; watch their siblings and help with dinner preparation.

For children, having two working parents can go a long way in shaping their understanding of men, women and families. This means boys may be more likely to have supportive attitudes toward the woman being equal in his future household. For little girls, the idea of achievement in a career outside of mothering can be stimulating, and encourage them to do the same.

Seeing a mom as a working person often confirms for children the sense that people, especially women, are multidimensional. Best of all, their feelings of pride in you doing your job well can carry over into feelings about their own self-worth and give them encouragement about their own capabilities in the future.

Many working parents see the benefit of having caregivers, who offer more opportunities for socialization and a wider range of activities for children than they could at home.
